I use silver thread 14# and it handles very smooth,and cast well, and is tougher than nails on a pfluger medalist combo. My dad uses a 12# berkley XL casting and it woks well also. On a charter with Captin Bruce we used 20# braid. Hope this helps! Cool

I use power pro 8 lb test... always has worked great for me and the sensitivity is awesome.. once u go braided you will never go back.. IMO... that's my 2 cents worth...

Do you mean 8# dia but its 20#test.I PUT ON SOME 10# test sufix siege on my curado man i really like it landed two nice reds 26/271/2 no problem.I can cast a country mile on a 1/16oz jig head with a seadevil on it no problem. I an using the 20# power pro on my 260 penn slammer works great.

Caun (red Line)  10# test for me, 12# or 14# for clients.  I don't like braid on trout...especially bigger ones.  I like the stretch factor mono allows.
